Our Story – A Place Where Memories Are Made

It begins with an idea: to create a place where peace and nature take centre stage. A retreat where you arrive and immediately feel – this is where I can breathe deeply. From this idea, the Rügenschmiede vis à vis Hiddensee was born, a boutique hotel that uniquely brings together tradition and modernity, simplicity and comfort, nature and hospitality.

Our house is located where the Baltic Sea shows its calm side – on the island of Rügen, directly opposite the car-free island of Hiddensee. Once a place of craftsmanship, the “Schmiede” is now a place of wellbeing. We have made it our mission to create a space here that does not feel like a hotel, but like a second home.

Our passion is in every detail: in the lovingly designed rooms, in the aroma of fresh breakfast in the morning, in the warmth of our team. And because every guest has different wishes, we focus on individuality – whether it’s a cosy double room, a spacious family suite or a thatched holiday home.

Our aim is not just to offer you a stay, but to give you memories: of sunsets by the water, of walks with views of Hiddensee, of moments of stillness and arrival.

Welcome to the Rügenschmiede vis à vis Hiddensee – a place where every journey becomes a story you’ll be glad to keep writing.
